WHAT IS NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE?

Naturopathic Medicine is a complimentary form of health care aimed at supporting the body’s ability to heal itself. By looking at the root causes of illness rather than just the symptoms, and promoting healing through natural therapies, naturopathic medicine is a successful non-invasive way to prevent chronic illness as well as reduce reliance upon prescription medications. Naturopathic Medicine aims to boost your immune system, prevent and treat chronic disease and increase your overall energy level.

There are a number of Naturopathic treatments that are tailored to each individual patient. Treatments may include clinical nutritionbotanical medicinehomeopathic medicinephysical treatmentsAsian medicinelifestyle counselling, or a combination of these.

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct form of primary health care. Naturopathic assessment, diagnosis and treatment draws from a number of modalities (therapies) and is tailored to the individual.

Naturopathic medicine is based on the following principles:

  • Utilization of therapies that are minimally invasive i.e., first do no harm
  • The Healing power of nature
  • Identification and treatment of the causes of disease
  • The primary role of the doctor as the teacher
  • Treatment of the whole person
  • Disease prevention and health promotion

Naturopathic medicine is for people of all ages and health histories who want to take their health into their own hands. NDs are primary health care providers and are qualified to see and treat everyone. Treatments may include clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathic medicine, physical treatments, Asian medicine, and lifestyle counselling.
